Making Dollars Make Sense is an organization who's mission is to change how children and families in Baltimore understand finance. When these families learn lessons and have the proper educational resources in place to earn higher income, the outcomes will be life changing.
According to an article by Entrepreneur Magazine, https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/292400, when you teach children to become entrepreneurs, they build resilience, they become innovative and creative, industrious, they learn empathy, become optimistic, and learn how to give back. That's why our organization is called Making Dollars Make Sense. We believe that teaching children and families in Baltimore City lessons in financial literacy and empowerment, then we will change how they see the world and create opportunities for themselves and their communities. Bored in school, failing classes, at odds with peers: This child might be an entrepreneur, says Cameron Herold. In his talk, he makes the case for parenting and education that helps would-be entrepreneurs flourish -- as kids and as adults.
An entrepreneur since childhood, Cameron Herold wants parents and teachers to recognize — and foster — entrepreneurial talent in kids. Herold was a leading force behind one of the most successful new business ventures of the last decade, 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. He was Chief Operating Officer for nearly seven years. Prior to that, he was VP of Corporate Development at Ubarter.com.
Entrepreneurship turns children into leaders. It transforms them into employers rather than employees and helps them create successful, independent lives through purposeful enterprise. It gives children viable options to earn a decent living in a crowded, harsh world.
Financial literacy is something that all children need to have today. Unfortunately, schools often don’t give enough attention to this area in your child’s education. Don’t leave this area to chance. Teach your kids about money from an early age to give them a solid grounding in finance.
Resources abound for methods and reasons why you should teach your children to become entrepreneurs. One of the most prevalent and common reasons is financial literacy. At Making Dollars Make Sense, we start building a foundation in children and adults by teaching financial literacy. We believe that a core understanding of financial literacy will help any entrepreneur to excel in their chosen endeavour.
