The 2020 Making Dollars Make Sense Summer Program will bring together professionals in different fields to teach our children the power of entrepreneurship built on an understanding of financial literacy.

WEEK 1- Introduction to Business - June 22-June 26th
Business First. This first week of the MDMS Summer Camp will lay the foundation of what it is to be in business. We will discuss the definition of a business, the roles of the business owner and help our campers understand their strengths and weaknesses as business owners. They will learn if the difference between the Entrepreneur, the manager and the technician. An overview of lessons learned in a franchise business.
WEEK 2- Creating and Your Business Product or Service - June 29th-July 3rd
Creating and Testing Your Business Product or Service
The most important element of ANY business is a customer. Campers will learn what it takes to find a need and how to build a business around that need and identify the customer for that product or service.
WEEK 3- Investing in The Stock Market, Real Estate and Start Up Businesses - July 6th - 10th
investing in The Stock Market, Real Estate and Start Up Businesses.
This session teaches the pros, cons, and strategies of investors. Campers will learn strategies for investing in the Stock Market and how to build a portfolio based on price movements and asset allocation and the definitions thereof. This session prepares children to start a business and The Annual Stock Market Game. Lessons learned can and should be shared with family members so that everyone creates a Wealth Building Mindset.
WEEK 4 - Marketing and Selling: Create a Video to Market Your Business - July 13th - 17th
Marketing and Selling to customers using video and social media
This session is focused on marketing. Campers will learn how to market themselves on social media channels and will produce a marketing video for their business. Kai Jackson from Baltimore FOX 45 will lead a session on how to speak and present on camera.
WEEK 5 - Financial Literacy for Entrepreneurs: Getting Financing from Banks and Outside Investors - July 20th - 24th
Financial Literacy for Entrepreneurs
Campers will learn about finance in this session as we demonstrate Making Dollars Make Sense. We will cover banking, budgeting and investing in the Stock Market and as an Angel Investor or Venture Capitalist. With guest speakers from all industries.
WEEK 6 - Buying Stock In Your Favorite Companies and Business Pitch Competition Prep - July 27th - July 31st
An entire week focused on building wealth buying stocks in companies that campers are familiar with and names they already know. They will also polish their pitch presentations for the judges in the Pitch Competition August 3rd. Guest speakers will facilitate the session.
